The parameters of this project were to make the poster big and only two colors. With black as a base, I knew that gold would contrast nicely on top and draw the eye around the composition with its selective use. Each illustration is hand designed and part of occult iconography in order to create a mood of the poster. This is a mock-up of an annual report for the Cincinnati Art Museum. The goal of this project was to create a consistent and informative system that was easy to read and communicated its information successfully. This annual report consisted of 55 pages of information about the year of 2019. Using images, graphs and money spreadsheets, anything someone would need to know about the inner workings of Cincinnati’s Art Museum is at their finger tips. Each section of the report has a spread introducing it. This spread breaks up the information and makes it easier for the eyes to digest the content. The soft ombre leads the viewers eye to the skyline where the kangaroo is present. Dimensions: 8.5 x 11 This zoo flyer functions as a learning tool for people visiting the Houston Zoo. In order to communicate successfully to this audience, there were a few guidelines in place so that this project would successfully deliver information. Having a clear and easy to read font face was important in aiding the younger side of the demographic so a thin, sans-serif font was an easy choice. There are also simple illustrations to help identify the animal easier. The use of the spike bubble was to break up the otherwise uniform left alignment and let the eye organically move from the top to the bottom of the page. This activity promotes learning because all of the answers can be found on the front of the sheet. Writing down information helps retain it. With a sweet and refreshing scent, you will feel like a summer breeze all day! This project was an exploration of photography techniques in screen printing. The layout was inspired by foreign advertisements in the early 1900’s and the colors were created with a pallet reminiscent of soft peaches and summery colors. There are tales of life, death, opium induced prophecies, divine intervention, and eternal love to make sure the audience is swayed with an array of emotions. For the design aspects I was influences by other dance posters from around the 1920’s and a little earlier. The scene depicted is one from a dream. In order to capture the whimsical and dream-like state, I included the stars at the top that seem like they are embroidered onto a velvet blue background. The dancer herself is also in the same mood because she seems to dance on nothing, floating in the abyss of blue. The other color choices were based on the ballet production itself. Since the ballet takes place in Ancient India, the costumes for the ballet are elaborate and embellished with gold trim and earthy tones. Restrictions: Must include the information provided on topic of choosing and convey the information in a positive and helpful light This design is centered around the topic of safe social distancing and gives helpful tips and pointers on how to avoid catching or spreading the sickness. I decided to create a character out of the virus. This choice makes it friendly and approachable to all ages. I feel the decision to do this also takes the fearful edge out of learning about COVID-19. I chose blue for a similar reason.
